PGRP-S is an important functional protein in colostrum. Sanshin found a strain of brewer’s yeast in the laboratory, which would produce PGRP-S-like with specially formulated medium under the controlled environment. It is more stable than PGRP-S in colostrum. Because this protein has the ability to recognize pathogens, we named it as pathogen recognition protein (PRP).
Past studies have confirmed that peptidoglycan recognition protein-S (PGRP-S) plays an important role in the recognition and regulation of innate immunity. For infants ,the importance of PGRP-S in the colostrum is much better than that of immunoglobulin.
Peptidoglycan recognition protein-S (PGRP-S) is widely present in insects, birds and mammals and plays an important role in the innate immune system of animals. Peptidoglycan recognition protein-S (PGRP-S) has also been found in some experiments to improve the intestinal flora of animals. In recent years, it has been found that PGRPs induce IFN-γ and TNF-α production in vivo, which can inhibit the virus in the body and is effective in the prevention and treatment of influenza.
Peptidoglycan recognition protein-S (PGRP-S) can enhance the innate immunity of animals and improve the beneficial bacteria phase of the intestine. In 2008, we added pathogen recognition protein (PRP) to the feed to try to improve the breeding rate of pigs. After several years of observation, the health status and breeding rate of pigs using pathogen recognition protein (PRP) were significantly improved.
In May 2013, in order to understand more about the efficacy of PRP, our company conducted a comparative trial of PRP. In this experiment, we were surprised to find that in the infected farm, in the PRP treatment group, the antibody IgG of PRRSV in blood was negative which shows uninfected result, while the untreated control group was positive after infection. After a series of tests, it was found that after using PRP, the swine show the same result.
In 2014, bird flu broke out in Taiwan, our company began to use PRP in the prevention and treatment of bird flu. It was found that using PRP can actually reduce the incidence of bird flu. When bird flu occurs in poultry farms, adding PRP to drinking water can shorten the disease and drastically reduce the mortality rate.
Since PRP is used in the control of PRRS in swine and bird flu , we can see that there are different results compared with the research of brewer’s yeast in the past. In order to confirm the differences between PRP and previous studies, we entrusted Pingtung Science Technology University and the National Defense University respectively to conduct the challenge test. The results showed that when PRP treatment was used, the number of viral in the blood of swine PRRS or mouse influenza was significantly lower in the test group than in the control group. The PRRSV neutralizing antibody was produced in the test group one day after the treatment, which should occur 4 weeks after infection.
For the results obtained from a series of experiments, we hypothesized that the PRP mechanism of action: 1. PRP will attach pathogens non-specifically in the gut. 2. This complex will enter the intestinal mucosa. 3. After entering the intestinal mucosa, this complex will induce mucosal immunity to produce antibodies IgA. Through the body’s return system, the antibodies are sent to the body’s mucosa and blood to neutralize the virus.
Through this hypothesis, it can be shown why PRP can have a preventive effect on the mutated virus disease (PRRS and bird flu). Although the hypothesis cannot be fully verified with current experimental data, we are further designing a series of experiments to confirm the hypothesis. However, the actual application is the final judgement of the product, and more studies, if not applied in the application, are lifeless products.
In the application of economic animals and the laboratory’s challenge tests, we believe that the application of PRP must have its efficacy in the prevention and control of human diseases. Therefore, since May 2017, the product has been used in human disease prevention and control, and the following results have been obtained through questionnaires.
- Take 75 mg every 4 hours, 6 times a day, influenza and enterovirus will be released in about 2-3 days.
- Sore throat and stuffy nose will be improved in about 2 hours.
- The frequency of having a fever is reduced.
- Some people start to have a runny nose after taking PRP and last about 2 days. Some people actually get better.
- It does not improve intestinal disease.
- There was no improvement in suppuration of the tonsils or nasal cavity.
- Take 25 mg each morning and night, can reduce the chance of infection in the high risk group of influenza.
- About 5-10% of users report invalid.
- As the frequency and dose of use decrease, the effect of shortening the course of the disease becomes worse, or even cannot be improved.
- The miraculous improvement has been achieved in some refractory diseases such as chronic rhinitis and Pityriasis rosea, but due to the small sample size, further verification is still needed.
Since PRP can solve the problem that virus mutates too fast, and to be as the treatment and prevention of influenza and enteroviruses, it is believed that there are great potentials for the development of health foods and drugs in the future, which is also the direction of our company’s current efforts.
